Nursery |
– Prepare 10 raised beds (15 feet length, 3 feet width and 8-12 inches height) for each acre of planted crop. – For each bed, mix 10 kg each of well-decomposed compost (FYM), red soil and sand in equal proportions. Form flat leveled tops.
– Apply 15 g Furadon granules and 0.5 kg Suphala (15: 15: 15) fertilizer mix per bed uniformly.
– Drench the beds thoroughly with Captaf (2 g/l) solution one week before sowing. – Sow the seeds in shallow furrows 3” apart. Close the furrows with FYM-soil mix and cover the seeds with rice straw. – Water the beds every morning with a garden can; during summer, additional watering and shade for 15–20 days is needed. – Immediately on germination (8 days after sowing) drench the beds with 0.2% Captaf solution. – Spray the seedlings with a mixture of Nuvacron (1 ml per litre) + Dithane M–45 (1 g per litre) on the 15th and 25th days after sowing. – Harden the seedlings by reducing watering during the 4th week after sowing. Plant the seedlings 30 DAS. |

Field Preparation and Transplanting |
– Deep plough the land to a fine tilth. A deep soil profile ensures excellent root growth - a key to obtaining higher yields.
– Incorporate 10 mt of FYM per acre.
– Apply fertilizer mixture in furrows drawn at 75 cm apart. Form ridges and furrows over these to adequately cover the fertilizer.
– Plant one seedling per hill at 45 cm spacing on the side of the ridge.
– Irrigate the crop at every 5 – 8 days depending on soil type and weather conditions.
– 2-3 weedings and hoeings should be done during the first 60 days for best plant growth.
– The recommended top dressing should be carried out. |

Harvesting |
Pickings start (green chilli) 70-75 DAT and continue for 8-10 weeks. |
| |
CAUTION |
Do not use the grain harvested from hybrid seed based crops as seed for the next crop. Doing so will cause a drastic reduction in crop yields due to segregation and loss of hybrid vigor. |
